Hornets Hold Walk Through at New ASU Stadium

Alabama State University had a walk through this afternoon in final preparations for the season-opener against Jacksonville State tomorrow before a CSS television audience at 5 p.m.

"I don't know if you are ever confident in being totally prepared," Head Coach Reggie Barlow said following the walk through. "You always wonder if there are things you could be better prepared for."

Jacksonville State comes into Montgomery following a 6-5 season and has a new coaching staff led by Bill Clark who led nearby Prattville High School to several state titles.

"We know Jacksonville State will come in here ready to play," Barlow said. "We have a lot of respect for what Coach Clark has done during his career and he will have his team well-coached. It is going to be a great test for our team."

This is the third meeting between the two teams with the Hornets holding a 2-1 edge in the series. The last time the two teams met was to open the 2007 season with the Hornets pulling out a 24-19 win. It was Reggie Barlow's first game as head coach of the Hornets, giving him his first victory.

Just like when Barlow opened his head coaching career against Jacksonville State, Clark will begin his coaching career facing Alabama State.

Barlow said, "It's ironic it has turned out that way. I am just hoping the results will be the same with the Hornets coming out on top."

With the game being carried live on CSS, it will be the first of 11 games this season ASU will be carried on a television or internet broadcast. The lone game that is not scheduled to be carried right now is the Mississippi Valley State game.
