The Alabama State University's tennis programs will be back in action Sunday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Mobile to face South Alabama with both matches set to begin at 1 p.m.
Both teams will be looking for their first wins of the season as both fell in Starkville last weekend at Mississippi State University.
USA's men will enter the weekend with a 2-2 record and are coming off a 6-1 win over Nicholls State. They are led by Daniel Leitner who is the 117
th ranked player in the nation.
Meanwhile the Hornets (0-1) are still looking for that first win after falling at MSU last weekend to open the season.
USA's women enter the weekend having not played a match yet and the Lady Hornets are looking to build off a match against Mississippi State where they were very competitive.
"From last weekend we competed well," Head Coach
Anuk Christiansz said. "After we came back we had a meeting with both teams and I told them what we needed to work on."
"The intensity and effort level was there last week and I want to continue that, but I also want to continue to work on taking advantage of the opportunities we had. We are heading in the right direction and we need a lot of good matches to build up our confidence in our level of match play."
South Alabama is a program that has had a lot of success in the past on the court and should be another strong opponent as ASU looks to build their program.
"South Alabama has always been a good program and I am looking forward to playing matches against programs like theirs," Christiansz said. "It will help us as we look to get to the next level."
