Bama State Places Four On All-SWAC Women’s Tennis Teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State women's tennis earned four All-SWAC honors and one major award as the conference unveiled its postseason accolades ahead of the 2026 SWAC Tennis Championships.

Freshman Alexia Campagna headlined the group, being named SWAC Freshman of the Year after a standout debut campaign. Campagna compiled a team-best 10-3 overall singles record, including a 4-1 mark in SWAC play at No 4 singles, and carried a five-match winning streak late in the season. In doubles play, she posted an 8-8 overall record, highlighted by a 7-4 doubles mark wth partners Cléanne Pickel and Jovana Petrovic.

Alabama State claimed the SWAC Doubles Team of the Year honor, as the duo of Melisa Mekic and Diana Craciun earned the league's top recognition. The pair finished the regular season with a 6-6 overall doubles record, including an unblemished 3-0 mark in conference play at the No. 1 position, and closed the season on a four-match winning streak.

In singles honors, Kesmat El Tawil was named First Team All-SWAC (No. 2 Singles) following a strong season in the lineup. El Tawil posted a 9-4 overall singles record, including a 4-1 conference record and an impressive 8-3 record at the No. 2 position. In doubles, she combined with Senna Van Den Heuvel for a 7-6 overall record as a primary tandem, while finishing 8-6 overall in doubles play.

Campagna added to her accolades with a Second-Team All-SWAC selection, going 7-2 in the No. 4 position and 2-0 at No. 5 singles during the season.

Senna Van Den Heuvel earned Second Team All-SWAC (No. 5 Singles) honors after finishing 8-4 overall in singles, including a 5-2 record at No. 5. In doubles, she posted an 8-6 overall record, primarily paired with El Tawil.

Alabama State opens the 2026 SWAC Women's Tennis Championships against Alcorn State on Friday at 1 p.m. in New Orleans, La.
