Â
This will be the 67
th contest between these two schools. The series is knotted at 33-33 since the 1981 season. Since the Freda Freeman era Alabama State holds a 21-10 advantage. Last season the Lady Tigers and the Lady Hornets split the games with Jackson State defeating Alabama State 70-67 in Jackson in their last competition.Â
Â
"Playing on the road is always tough especially at Jackson State," said
Freda Freeman-Jackson. "When you come to Jackson you have to play against the fans and the team. The sixth man is always a hard team to beat. Jackson has been playing well and they have a young lady Hardy-Fuller that has been leading the team. Jackson also has a mixture of players. Like I always say we will have to defend the ball and play our game.
Â
Jackson State is led in scoring and rebounding by Ayanna Hardy-Fuller, while Alabama State has the top rebounder in the conference with senior
Quentori Alford who averages 9.5 rebounds per contest.Â
Nakiya Smith is in the top 10 of the conference rankings scoring 10.1 points per game. Alford is averaging 10.2 points, which includes three double-doubles so far on the season.  Â
