Barlow Addresses Media at SWAC Teleconference

Alabama State University head football coach Reggie Barlow addressed the media at today's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) coaches teleconference and spent a few moments looking back on last week's win over Jackson State and the upcoming road game at Southern.

"It was great being back in Montgomery playing in our home stadium," Barlow said.  "We had been on the road for over a month and it was great playing in front of our fans and it was great crowd and we were able to get a victory."

"Jackson came in and played hard.  They have some really good players there like Ivey, and their receivers.  They made it an interesting game and played well and tied at halftime.  The guys came out in the second half and played with a little more energy.  We were kind of lethargic in the first half."

"We are proud of our guys they stepped up and made plays.  Our defense was combative and ran to the ball and really got to the quarterback and we were proud to only give up 10 points.  We will take it.  It's a big win for us and for this program."

This week will be ASU's final road trip of the season.  They will play at Grambling who is undefeated in conference play and leads the West Division with a 7-0 record.

"Grambling is playing really well," Barlow said.  "Coach Fobbs and his coaching staff have done an outstanding job.  As a fan of this league it is always good to know teams like Grambling, the staple of our conference, is playing well.  It is a huge challenge for us and we are looking forward to going down there and see how we measure up against one of the top teams in the conference."

ASU and Grambling are scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Memorial Stadium.
