After sitting through rain most of the day the first day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Round Up finally got underway with the Lady Hornets getting in a match on the first day of action. They faced the top team in the conference in Southern who was able to beat ASU 4-0.

Southern jumped on top winning the doubles point with wins at one and two doubles, entering singles play with a 1-0 lead.

Southern was able to win three singles matches at one, two and three singles to keep their SWAC record undefeated at 5-0 (6-5 overall). The Lady Hornets fell to 7-11 overall and even their conference record at 2-2.

"This is not the way we wanted to start the round up, but Southern showed why they are the best team in the conference," Head Coach Aunk Christiansz said. "We have to get over this match and get a good night's rest and be ready to go in the morning. It doesn't get any easier for us as Jackson State is also undefeated in the conference."

Both the men and women will be in action tomorrow as they open the day facing Jackson State at 9 a.m. ASU will then face Alabama A&M in the final match of the day scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
