Lady Hornets Drop Season Finale

Box Score The Alabama State Women's basketball team fell to Jackson State 61-51 Saturday evening at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Senior Night.
 
In the first half Alabama State (16-13 , 9-9) came out battling but weren't able to keep it close. Brittney Wright scored nine points going 3-4 from the field and 2-3 from the line. Kierra Paige added six points of her own, while Brittney Smith contributed with five assist.  On the defensive end Quentori Alford had six crucial blocks and five defensive rebounds.  
 
"We didn't play as hard as I thought we should have played," head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson said. "We really hurt ourselves with 28 turnovers, anytime you have that many turnovers you are limiting your opportunities to score. On the defensive end we are going to need to have better communication to cut back on the missed assignments." 
 
ASU shot 28 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.  

Jackson State (13-14, 11-6) was led by Alisa Rose who had 15 points along with Dominique Brothern with 13 points and Ke'ra St. John added 11 points. 

Brittney Wright who shot six of eight scored 17 points and 11 rebounds led all scorers. Quentori Alford led the team with 12 rebounds, 8 blocks and added five points.

Alabama State will prepare for the SWAC Tournament as they face the 4th seeded Prairie View A&M on Thursday, March 13 at 5:30 p.m.
