The Alabama State women's basketball team will face the Lady Tigers of Grambling State in the quarter finals of the 2015 Toyota SWAC Tournament at noon on Thursday, March 12 in Houston, Texas
 
"This is the moment that we look forward to all season," said head women's basketball coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  "I feel that we are prepared for the contest tomorrow.  It's been a long season and my ladies have been working really hard."

The Lady Hornets finished the regular season with a 14-14 overall record and 10-8 conference record.  Earlier in the season ASU defeated Grambling (10-19, 7-7) the last time coming a week ago last Thursday in Grambling, La.  The Lady Hornets won over GSU by a slim margin of 68-62.
 
Alabama State will enter the contest with the Defensive Player of the Year Jasmine Peeples as well as first team All-SWAC selection Britney Wright.  Peeples finished the regular season averaging 11.1 ppg and 10.2 rebounds per game.  Peeples is the league's best shot blocker with 86 during the regular season. She ranks 15^th in the nation.  Wright was second in scoring in the league averaging 16.8 ppg.
 
Grambling is led in scoring by Yosha Watson who is averaging 12.5 ppg.  Monisha Neal leads GSU in rebounding averaging 4.2 rpg.  The team as a whole averages 55.9 ppg.
 
"In these games records, leading scorers, rebounders don't matter," Freeman-Jackson said.  "All that matters is how you play the game and if you win or lose.  We know that we have to do whatever it takes to win and that's what we want to do."
