Hornets Fall At South Alabama

MOBILE – The Alabama State baseball team lost at South Alabama 9-2 Tuesday night at Stanky Field.

The Hornets (10-7), who saw a five-game winning streak snapped, scored in the first inning. With one out, P.J. Biocic and Waldyvan Estrada hit back-to-back singles. Chris Biocic's sacrifice fly to right center scored P.J. Biocic to give Alabama State a 1-0 lead.

South Alabama (13-8) took the lead with four runs in the third, and added two in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead.

Alabama State added a run in the eighth on a two-out error, scoring Estrada, who doubled in the inning.  The Jaguars answered with three runs in the home half of the inning for the final margin.

Estrada and Cesar Rivera each had two hits to lead the Hornets, who are back in action Wednesday hosting Jacksonville State at 6 p.m. at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
