MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State women's soccer team got off to another quick start and rolled to a 9-2 victory against Alcorn State as six different Lady Hornets scored Sunday afternoon in a conference victory at the ASU Soccer Complex.
Emily Fleming scored twice and got it going with a goal in the ninth minute,
Lexi Krieger registered her first career hat trick at ASU off the bench and
Ariela Lewis played another large role with one goal and a team-high three assists.Â
The Lady Hornets (7-9-1 overall, 6-2-1 SWAC) ran their unbeaten streak to six straight as they've gone 5-0-1 during this span.Â
Larissa White,
Aaliyah Lewis, and
Mooregan Elder all scored one apiece as well for an aggressive ASU team that drew a season-high 14 offside calls.Â
It was Elder's first goal of the season.Â
Sophomore
Gianna Guyot (7-6-1) made three saves, but allowed two goals to Lady Braves' top threat Rita Okoro, who tallied her sixth and seventh scores of the season.Â
That cut the deficit to 5-2, but Alabama State created further separation with goals from Elder, two from Krieger and another from Ar. Lewis. Â
Krieger was especially efficient with her three goals coming in just 38 minutes of action. Â
The Lady Braves fell to 1-10 overall and 1-8 in the SWAC. Â
ASU will play its final home game against Alabama A&M on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Complex.
