Cold start hurts Hornets at TCU

FORT WORTH, TX – The Alabama State men's basketball team had trouble finding the basket in a cold-shooting first half as the Hornets fell at TCU 98-62 on Monday night at Schollmaier Arena.

For a second straight game, Alabama State (0-2) shot under 30 percent from the floor in the first half.

It trailed 47-15 at halftime and bounced back by shooting 60 percent in the second half with a 47-point half.

ASU big man Tony Armstrong was able to get to the free throw line and scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds with a pair of blocks in 32 minutes of action.

Junior transfer Rodney Simeon (Miami, FL native) added 13 points and was 3-of-6 from downtown.

Desmond Bane was one of five TCU players to score in double figures and led with 19 points.

Next, Alabama State will play at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
