First half blues

TROY, Ala. – The Alabama State women's basketball team dug themselves into a big first half hole as the Lady Hornets could not recover as it fell in a nonconference game at Troy 95-66 on Sunday night at Trojan Arena.

The Lady Hornets (1-6) trailed 50-23 at the break and had to play in catch up mode for the remainder as it did outscore the Trojans 29-18 in the third quarter.

But 33 percent shooting from the floor and a team total of 25 turnovers spoiled their chances.

Danielle Clark led ASU in scoring with 16 points while Victoria Harvey provided a spark off the bench with perfect 4-of-4 shooting and scored nine points to go along with one steal and one block.

Daniele Ewert and Ziara Doe each had seven points, six rebounds and two assists apiece.

Next, Alabama State will have a 12-day layoff from games before traveling to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Dec. 16.
