"This is a great win for this team," Head Coach
Lewis Jackson said. We have had way too many of these and it's good to see us come out on the right end of the scoreboard."
Â
Jamel Waters led the Hornets effort with 16 points, but none bigger than the four free throws he hit in the last minute of the game to help salt away the win.
Â
Terrance LeFlore made his first start of the season and came through with 10 points and his final two free throws with eight seconds left in the game iced the game for the Hornets.
Â
ASU (9-14/4-8) had great support off the bench as
Glenn Hollaway had career-highs with 12 points and nine rebounds while playing 29 minutes.
Â
"I want to start with Glenn," Jackson said. "He came off the bench early for us and had some big rebounds and had several put back baskets to help get us going. He really stepped up for us tonight."
Â
In a strategic move,
Bobby Brown came off the bench in the game and was a burst of energy for ASU. He finished the game with 10 points and three rebounds.
Â
ASU finished shooting 43 percent from the field and hit eight of their 19 three point field goals for 42 percent. The Hornets did not shoot a free throw until nine minutes left in the game and finished hitting 10 of 16 for 63 percent.

Â
"Our defense did enough things to win this game," Jackson said. "We were able to get some rebounds there down the stretch and forced them into bad shots a few times."
Â
AAMU took a 33-31 lead into the locker room at halftime, based on the Hornets inability to score the final 4:42 of the half. LeFlore gave the Hornets a 31-23 lead, but ASU would not score again as AAMU outscored the Hornets 10-0 to take the lead.
Â
AAMU shot 55 percent in the opening half with West's 12 points leading the way. McConico, who came into the game averaging 5.3 points per game, had 11 at the break.
