Britney Wright's 21 points and 11 rebounds, the Alabama State women's basketball team defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 68-53, Monday night 
Alabama State (11-9, 9-2 SWAC) extended their conference winning streak to nine. 
Arkansas-Pine Bluff's (7-15, 4-7 SWAC) loss ended their three-game winning streak. 
Ashanti Spencer and 
Daniele Ewert produced nine points and five rebounds each while coming off the bench. ASU's bench outscored UAPB's bench 35-13. ASU's bench has scored at least 25 points the past three games.                                
Defensive anchor 
Jasmine Peeples efficiently added eight points, grabbed seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in just 16 minutes of play.               
Niya Head and Diamond Richardson both scored 13 points in a valiant effort, but it was not enough to slow down the stinging offense of ASU. Head also had eight rebounds. 
The swarming defense of the Lady Hornets limited the Lady Golden Lions to 17-of-54 (31.5%) while holding them to only one made three-pointer. The defense also caused 22 turnovers that resulted in 18 points for ASU. 
 In the second-half, Alabama State made it to the free-throw line 14 times, making 11 after only making to the line only four times in the first half. 
Alabama State's largest lead of 22 points came midway through the fourth quarter and never trailed in the game. 
The Lady Hornets will return home to prepare to face in-state rival and SWAC opponent Alabama A&M on the road Saturday, February 13
th at 4:00 p.m. in the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium Normal Ala.
