MONTGOMERY, AL – Alabama State starting pitcher
Joseph Camacho cruised into the sixth inning without much incident,
Chris Biocic put together one of his finest performances of the season at the plate and three other players had two RBI apiece as the Hornets took game one of their four-game series with Northern Kentucky 9-3 on Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

It was the first meeting between the Hornets (8-6) and the Norse (4-8) of the Horizon League.

ASU quickly grabbed a 2-0 lead on
Dillon Cooper's two-run single in the first inning and added to the lead in the third on a sacrifice fly RBI by
Carlos Ocasio and two additional runs on a single to center by
Chris Biocic that scored
Ray Hernandez and
Diandre Amion.
Â
It remained 5-0 until the sixth inning when Logan Spurlin's two-run single cut the lead to 5-2.

The Norse got as close as 5-3 on a Tito Montgomery RBI single, but Biocic was able to throw Montgomery out at second attempting to steal.

Camacho (2-0) tossed seven innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on eight scattered hits.Â
Â
The senior right-hander struck out six batters and walked none.
Â
His season ERA remained at a razor-thin 1.29.
Â
Alabama State added four more insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning capped by a two-run single by Biocic.Â
Â
Biocic finished the day with a 3-for-4 performance at the dish and raised his season batting average from .222 to .275 in the process.

"I was really proud of him [Biocic]," said ASU head coach
Mervyl Melendez.
Â
"He went back to what he was doing last year that made him successful and that's hitting up the middle."
Â
Ocasio, Cooper each had two hits and two RBI on the day while table-setter
Yamil Pagan closed out 2-for-4 with three runs scored at the top of the lineup.Â
