ASU Volleyball Has Growing Pains

Box Score In the Alabama States volleyball team opening match of the Wildcat Invitational the Lady Hornets couldn't quite find their rhythm as the host tournament team Arizona found all the holes to drop the Lady Hornets 3-0.

Game 1:

Alabama State opened up the first set 1-0 that later became an 8-3 lead by the Wildcats.  Six unanswered points found ASU in trouble as they couldn't answer the kill attacks of Kendra Dahike which led Arizona with six kills in this set and Katanina Pilepic who had four.

Alabama State was able to rally back just a bit behind the efforts of Ni'yesha Brown which led the Lady Hornets in kills with three as they ended the set 25-12.  Dahike led the Wildcats with six kills once again.

Set two the Lady Hornets paced themselves as they saw their first and only lead of the set.  This time there were two ties before the Wildcats pushed their way pass Alabama State with a 25-14 win.

The woes didn't change for ASU as Arizona jumped out quickly to ensure that the Lady Hornets could not chip into their lead downing Alabama State 25-12.

"We played o.k. overall today, said Head Coach Penny Lucas-White".  "We still have some growing to do and I knew that coming into this game we would have some trouble.  We as a team and coaching staff need to go back and look at what we are not doing as a whole.  But I think that we will be o.k."
