Jenkins Holds Weekly Press Conference Before TSU Game

MONTGOMERY – Alabama State's Head Football Coach Brian Jenkins held his weekly press conference with the local media and was able to talk a little about last week's game at Southern and talked about the talented Texas Southern team coming into Montgomery this Saturday.

"Last week was a catastrophe," Jenkins said.  "The bottom line is Southern played better than we did and they won the game."

Texas Southern will come into Montgomery fresh off a 31-0 shutout win over Mississippi Valley State.  The Tigers always have a lot of talent and that is something they will have again when they hit the field at ASU Stadium Saturday night.

"They are a good, scrappy football team and they have a veteran coach in Coach Haywood. They are doing some really good things," Jenkins said.  "They have some electrifying running backs and have two quarterbacks that are good and efficient throwing the ball."

"They have a defense that flies around and a linebacker that is Mr. Football.  He is all over; he is just a ball hawk.  They are a good football team and well-coached.  They have tasted victory and I'm sure they want to continue to taste victory and because of that it is going to make our opportunity that much harder."

Saturday's game is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m.  It is the third annual Prince Hall Mason's Americanism Football Classic and it will also be Men's Health Awareness Day.

The game can be heard live over the Hornet Radio Network which includes 102.7 FM, Montgomery, 96.7 FM, Pine Hill and HSRN Satellite Radio.  A live webstream of the game can also be watched at bamastatesports.com.  Get all the information on the game on Game Day at bamastatesports.com.
