MONTGOMERY, Ala. –
The Alabama State women's basketball team will look to make it five straight as the Lady Hornets welcome Alcorn State to the Oliver-Dunn Acadome for a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Alabama State (5-10 overall, 4-1 SWAC) is coming off a 52-37 victory over rival Alabama A&M last Saturday. The Lady Hornets overcame a sluggish shooting night by going 15-of-16 from the foul line. Britney Wright captured her second straight SWAC Player of the Week accolade after registering 22 points, including 10 from the charity stripe, in the win over Alabama A&M.

Wright continues to lead the Lady Hornets offense, averaging 14.6 points and 7.8 boards. She ranks fifth in the conference in steals at 3.0 per game.

Daniele Ewert is tops among the SWAC in free-throw percentage and is now the ASU all time single season leader in free-throw percentage (91.3-percent). Also, Ewert is behind Wright in the conference in steals, averaging 27 per contest.

Alcorn State (4-13, 4-2), which enters the game on a three-game winning streak, comes into the contest after a 70-48 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Braves took control from the opening tip and led 40-21 at the break.

Henrietta Wells tallied a game-high 15 points, while Brianna Luton and Tia Sanders netted 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Alabama State concludes its two-game homestand on Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Southern.
