GRAMBLING, La. | In a battle of two of the top teams in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Grambling State University was able to score a goal in the first half and add another in the second for a 2-0 victory over Alabama State University.
Grambling State (7-5-1, 5-0-1 SWAC) struck first when Jessica Miller-Ulmer was able to convert a corner kick into a goal off a rebound off the goal post in the 29th minute. Clarissa Rivas scored the final goal in the 78th minute.

Alabama State (6-7, 4-2 SWAC) was unable to capitalize off of two shots outside the 18 by
Inma Martinez. The first shot by Martinez was just along the edge of the 18-yard box, but was shot sailed over the crossbar.

The second attempt came in the 64th minute; Martinez was able to hit the ball to where it found the head of Teegan Ilela but her header was too wide to convert to a goal.
The Lady Hornets finished the night off with six shots in the loss.

Alabama State will continue their road trip as they travel to Arkansas to face UAPB on Sunday at 1pm. The match will be featured on the SWAC Digital Network.
