MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University volleyball team will step out of conference once again this week, traveling to face Troy University Tuesday night on ESPN3.

Alabama State (16-8, 9-0 SWAC) had their 11-match win streak snapped by Alabama last Thursday, however, they still come in to the match against the Trojans having won 14 of their last 16 matches. The streak began on September 9 inside Lockhart Arena with a win over Western Carolina.

The match with Troy will be the sixth match against an in-state opponent for the Lady Hornets this season as they have faced Alabama, Alabama A&M, Auburn, South Alabama and UAB. Through the first five matches against in-state opponents, Alabama State has picked up a pair of wins against Alabama A&M and UAB.

Senior
Ni'yesha Brown continues to lead the Lady Hornets, and the conference, with 290 kills this season – good for 3.22 kills per set.
Briana Dorsey has added 215 kills for the Lady Hornets, while
Bayle' Bennett has 189,
Krysta Medearis 176 and
Payten Clark 149 for the conference-leading Lady Hornets.

Kori Kutsch hit the 1,700 assist mark during the match against Alabama and has 542 this season, while fellow setter
Justus Tuiolosega has 330.

Defensively,
Asha Daniels leads the team with 310 total digs; which is good for 3.73 digs per set. Five other Lady Hornets, including Kutsch with 192 and Bennett with 171, join her in triple digits. Meanwhile, Dorsey continues to climb the career list at the school in blocks as she now has 90 on the season, while Clark has 83.

Meanwhile, Troy (7-15, 2-6 Sun Belt) heads into the match having lost three of their last four, but come into the match Tuesday after defeating Georgia State last week. The Trojans have faced four in-state opponents this season, and have just one win in those four matches – against UAB.

The meeting will be the seventh between the two schools since
Penny Lucas-White took over the helm of the Lady Hornets.

The match begins at 6:30 pm inside Trojan Arena.
