MONTGOMERY, Ala. | With just four Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matches remaining in the season, the Alabama State University volleyball team hits the road for a pair of key conference matches this weekend.

Alabama State (21-9, 14-0 SWAC), winners of 35 consecutive conference matches, can wrap up the regular season conference title with a win and an Alabama A&M loss. However, if the Lady Hornets win both of their matches this week they will wrap up the title and the overall top seed for upcoming conference tournament.

The Lady Hornets will play three matches this week, but the they will begin with Mississippi Valley State on Sunday at 5 pm; before following that up with Alcorn State at 6 pm on Monday night.

Senior
Ni'yesha Brown continues to lead the team and the conference in kills with 356, averaging 3.56 kills per set and has scored 400 points this season. Meanwhile, fellow senior
Briana Dorsey is second on the team in kills with 276 and is averaging 2.51 per set. She is also hitting .406 on the season and scored her 1000th career point last week during the SWAC Roundup.

Bayle' Bennett has added 243 kills, while
Krysta Medearis has added 210.

Kori Kutsch and
Justus Tuiolosega continue to share setting duties, with Kutch leading the way with 674 assists – averaging 6.13 assists per set. Meanwhile, Tuiolosega has recorded 416 assists and is averaging 4.12 assists per set.

Defensively, six players are in tripe figures in digs led by
Asha Daniels with 372 – averaging 3.72 per set – while Kutsch and Bennett have each added 200. Dorsey leads the Lady Hornets with 109 total blocks this season, while
Payten Clark has added 105.

Alabama State has faced Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State each once this season, winning both matches by identical 3-0 scores. In the match against the Devilettes, Brown led Alabama State with nine kills and Medearis added eight. In the match against Alcorn State, Medearis led the team with 10 kills and Brown added nine.
