Lady Hornets face Jackson State Monday night

Last loss to a conference team came to Jackson State in 2015

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | As the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) portion of the schedule hits the midpoint of the season, the Alabama State University volleyball team sits atop the conference as the lone undefeated team.
 
They will put that on the line Monday night as they travel to the state of Mississippi to face long-time rival Jackson State University, with the match set to tip at 6:30 pm.
 
Alabama State (15-7, 8-0) is in the midst of a 10-match winning streak dating back to September 16, and has won 13 of their last 14 matches this season. The Lady Hornets have also won 29 consecutive conference matches, with their last conference loss occurring to Jackson State in the conference championship match back on November 22, 2015.
 
The Lady Hornets continue to find themselves at the top of the conference in most statistical categories through 22 matches, and have several individuals listed among the best in the NCAA statistical rankings.
 
Alabama State leads in hitting percentage (.200), opponent hitting percentage (.156) and kills (11.88/set). They are also second in assists (10.94/set), third in blocks (2.23/set) and service aces (1.40/set), and are fourth in digs (14.48/set). Those numbers are also some of the best in the nation as the Lady Hornets are 11th in total blocks, 19th in kills, 21st in service aces, 23rd in total attacks and 24th in both hitting percentage and assists.
 
Individually, Ni'yesha Brown leads the conference in points (68th in the nation), total attacks (34th in the nation) and total kills (68th in the nation). Teammate Briana Dorsey leads the conference in hitting percentage (56th in the nation) and in total blocks (22nd in the nation), while she is second in service aces (84th in the nation) and points (84th in the nation). Kori Kutsch leads the conference in service aces (42nd in the nation).
 
Meanwhile, Payten Clark is currently third in the conference in blocks (34th in the nation), while Asha Daniels is third in the conference in digs (138th in the nation).
 
Jackson State (3-18, 2-4 SWAC) enters the match having lost four of their last five matches this season.
