JACKSON, Miss. | The Alabama State University volleyball team ran their consecutive conference win to streak to 30 consecutive matches, powering past Jackson State University 3-1 (15-25,25-17,25-19,25-11) in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play Monday night.
 
Alabama State (16-7, 9-0 SWAC) ventured to the last place where they lost in conference play – back in 2015 – and walked away with the victory after dropping the first set. They ran their current win streak to 11 consecutive victories this season, and now have won 14 of their last 15 matches.
 
Senior Ni'yesha Brown, the leader in kills in the conference, led Alabama State with a career-high 25 kills on 63 total attacks, finishing the night with a .286 hitting percentage. She was one of two players in double figures in kills with Briana Dorsey adding 15 while hitting a career-high .652 on the night. Payten Clark finished with nine kills while hitting .389, while the Lady Hornets hit .308 as a team on the night.
 
Alabama State recorded 62 total kills on the night, to just 46 for Jackson State.
 
Kori Kutsch led the Lady Hornets with 24 assists, while Justus Tuiolosega added 18 for the Lady Hornets, who finished the night with 50 assists on 62 kills. Defensively, Asha Daniels finished the night with 23 total digs, with Tuiolosega adding eight.
 
Alexandra Burney led Jackson State (3-20, 2-6 SWAC) with 15 kills, while Sapphire Simpson had a match high 33 assists. Tyler Moorer led the Lady Tigers with 15 digs, while Simpson added 11.
 
Alabama State steps out of conference play Thursday night when they host the University of Alabama at Lockhart Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
