JACKSON, Miss. | After falling behind midway through the first set, top-seeded Alabama State charged back to win that set and swept Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3-0 (26-24,25-12,25-13) in the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship tournament Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (27-10), winners of 41 consecutive matches against conference opponents dating back to 2015, will play for the championship for the fifth consecutive year. The team has won three of the four, with their only loss in the title match coming in 2015.

Briana Dorsey led Alabama State with 13 kills on 21 total attacks, with just one error and hit .571 for the match. She also added three blocks and a pair of digs for the Lady Hornets. Although she was the lone Lady Hornet in double figure kills,
Krysta Medearis added nine while hitting .438; while
Bayle' Bennett and
Payten Clark each added eight.

Kori Kutsch led Alabama State with 21 assists, while
Justus Tuiolosega added 17 as the duo combined for 38 of the team's 41 assists in the semifinal matchup. Defensively,
Asha Daniels led the Lady Hornets with 13 digs.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (14-20) jumped ahead of Alabama State 15-11 midway through the first set and held that lead until the Lady Hornets on a 5-1 run to tie the match at 22-all on a Clark kill. After UAPB took a one-point lead and then had a chance to serve for the match at 24-23, the Lady Hornets used a pair of kills by Dorsey and Golden Lion error to claim the opening set.

After trailing 21-17 in the opening set, the Lady Hornets went on to win 59 of the next 86 points to run away with the victory.

The Lady Hornets will face Texas Southern in the SWAC Championship match, with the match slated to start at 3 pm. It can be seen live on ESPN3 from Jackson.
