HATTIESBURG, Miss. | Courtney Lee scored in double figures for the first time in an Alabama State uniform, but Stephen F. Austin was able to pull away in the second half for a 77-50 victory over the Lady Hornets in the opening day of the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic at Reed Green Coliseum Friday night.
 
Lee led Alabama State (1-4) with 10 points and five rebounds, while hitting on 4-of-6 shots from the floor. 
Shamyiah Smith added nine points, while dishing out three assists. 
Tatyana Calhoun led Alabama State with six rebounds, while shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field.
 
Alabama State shot 40.4 (19-of-47) percent from the floor, and 18.2 (2-of-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 71.4 (10-of-14) percent from the free throw line.
 
Meanwhile, Imani Johnson led Stephen F. Austin (3-1) with 18 points and four rebounds, on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. Marissa Banfield added 11 points for the Ladyjacks, who were able to pull away in the second half with 45 points on 39.5 (17-of-43) percent shooting from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
 
Stephen F. Austin shot 40.3 (29-of-72) percent from the floor, and 32.3 (10-of-31) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 60.0 (9-of-15) percent from the free throw line, and won the rebounding battle 43-33.
 
The Lady Hornets return to action Saturday afternoon against the host, Southern Miss, with tip set for 4 pm. The game can be seen on ConferenceUSATV.
