MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's tennis team will look to extend their modest two-match winning streak traveling to the Peach State to face Kennesaw State and Mercer this weekend.
Alabama State (3-3) won back-to-back matches this weekend at Alabama State University Invitational over Alabama A&M and Jacksonville State. In their match, the Lady Hornets overcame the odds with wins at number one and two in comeback fashion to record the victory.
The Lady Hornets are led by
Reka Szentes in singles play with a 4-1 overall record, including a 3-0 record at number one singles.
Marine Cartier is 2-3 for the Lady Hornets, splitting her time between one and two (has a 2-1 record at number two singles); while
Gabriela Lackova is at .500 in singles play at 2-2.
In doubles play, the team of
Mirna Curcic and Lackova us 2-2 on the season playing between number two and three doubles; while the team of Cartier and Szentes has recorded a 2-3 overall record, playing all of their matches at number one doubles.
The Hornets face Kennesaw State on Saturday at 2 pm, and then travel to Mercer to play Sunday at 11 am.
