JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama State women's tennis team won their third match in four tries, defeating Prairie View A&M 4-1 on the opening day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup hosted by Jackson State University Friday morning.
 
Despite getting a victory at number one doubles by Reka Szentes and Marine Cartier, 6-3, the Lady Hornets dropped the doubles point to Prairie View A&M after losing at number two and three.
 
Alabama State (4-4) used singles victories at the top three spots, and another at number five to seal the opening victory of the Roundup. Szentes won in straight sets, although she was pushed in the second 6-0, 7-5; while her doubles partner, Cartier won at number in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
 
Gabriela Lackova was able to win her match at number three singles with ease over Stacey Lackey of Prairie View A&M 6-3, 6-3; while Mirna Curcic was able to help put the match away with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number five singles.
