JACKSON, Miss. – Marine Cartier locked up her second consecutive match for the Alabama State University women's tennis team defeated Southern, 4-1, for their third consecutive victory at the SWAC Round-up hosted by Southern University.
 
Alabama State (6-4) started the match by winning the doubles point after fighting off two set points at number two, with the team of 
Gabriela Lackova and 
Marija Blazevic battling back to win the match 7-6 (7-0 in the tiebreaker). The win was made possible when the team of 
Brankica Orlovic and Marine Curcic claimed a win at number one doubles, 6-3.
 
The Lady Hornets claimed three singles victories en route to the overall win, led by Blazevic claiming a 6-1, 6-4 victory; while 
Reka Szentes, who was celebrating her birthday during the match, claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number one singles over Stephanie Mbaya.
 
Cartier clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Darnesha Moore at number one singles.
