MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's tennis team fell to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga 4-1 in non-conference action at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Sunday.
Alabama State (7-6) dropped their second consecutive non-conference match, although they had chances to win the doubles point and win two other singles matches.
Chattanooga captured the doubles point, but not before the number one and number three teams stretched their matches out. The number one team of
Brankica Orlovic and
Marija Blazevic lost in a tiebreaker at number one; while the team of Gabriela Lakcova and
Mirna Curcic dropped a break point, before falling 7-5 to give the Lady Mocs the doubles point.
The number two team of
Reka Szentes and Marine Carter claimed a 6-4 victory for Alabama State in doubles play.
In singles, Alabama State claimed a victory at number two where Cartier claimed a straight-set 6-2, 7-5 victory; while Szentes and Blazevic went to three sets before the match was called.
