MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 match to the University of New Orleans in non-conference action at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Monday afternoon.
The Lady Hornets claimed the doubles point with wins at number two and three, to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. The number two team of
Reka Szentes and
Marine Cartier won their number two match 6-2; while the number three team of
Gabriela Lackova and
Mirna Curcic cruised to a 6-1 victory.
In singles play, Alabama State claimed victories at number one and six; with Szentes claiming a 6-3, 6-4 victory and
Marija Blazevic claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number six. The decided match came at number five where Brittany Johnson of New Orleans and Curci battled for three sets, with Johnson claiming a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
