ASU wins in walk-off fashion over Grambling State

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Chris Biocic's bases loaded single in the ninth scored Diandre Amion from third as the Alabama State University baseball team won in walk-off fashion with a 4-3 victory over Grambling State on Saturday in a non-conference game at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

Alabama State (20-20), which has won two straight, opened the ninth tied at 3 when Amion singled through the right side to begin the inning. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on Edgardo Rivera's bunt single. Hunter Allen was intentionally walked to load the bases. Biocic, who pinch hit for Oscar Prioleau, ripped a 1-1 pitch to right to plate the game-winning run.

Patrick Coffin, who threw 97 pitches in Wednesday's loss to South Alabama, worked 2.1 innings in relief and gave up one run on two hits with three walks and tone strikeout. Austin Bizzle (4-0) picked up the win for the second straight day, pitching the ninth and fanning one.

Alabama State opened the scoring in the top of the first as Cage Cox, who went 2-for-4, reached on a one-out single through the right side. Carlos Ocasio was hit by a pitch and both advanced a base on a wild pitch. Gustavo Rios, who went 1-for-4, followed with a groundout to the first baseman as Cox scored from third to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead.

Marlon Pruitt (0-1) worked 1.0 inning in relief and gave up two runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk.
