MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University soccer team travels to Lipscomb University Sunday, September 17.
Alabama State (2-4) enters the match following a 6-1 win over Presbyterian, the highest scored by the Lady Hornets since last season's 8-2 victory over Alabama A&M (October 27). Meanwhile, Lipscomb (2-4-2) enters the contest after falling to Vanderbilt on Sunday.
Lexi Krieger, who is the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Week, is one of three players on this year's roster with three goals through the first six matches – all three of her goals coming in a hat trick against Presbyterian. She is tied with
Inma Martinez, who scored a pair of goals against Presbyterian, at the top of the leaderboard for Alabama State with seven points.
Ariela Lewis has added three goals and six points this season for the Lady Hornets, while
McKenna Lupori and
Teaggan Ilela each have a pair of assists to lead Alabama State. Meanwhile,
Gianna Guyot has played all 550 minutes in goal for the Lady Hornets and has recorded 51 saves this season.
Lipscomb is led by Ellen Lundy and Riley Henry each have posted a pair of goals for the Bison this season, while the duo have combined for a team-leading four points. Jade Abarca and Leah Cernicky each have a pair of assist to lead Lipscomb. Kate Mason has played all 778 minutes, recording 34 saves in the eight matches.
The game kicks off at 1 pm in Nashville (Tenn.) on the campus of Lipscomb University, where Alabama State looks to even the series with the Bison.
