MONTGOMERY, Ala. | After last playing on their home floor September 9 of this year, the Alabama State University volleyball team returns to Lockhart Gymnasium back-to-back days beginning Sunday in conference action.

Alabama State (12-7, 5-0 SWAC) face Mississippi Valley State (3-16, 1-4 SWAC) Sunday at 5 pm, while they will face Alcorn State (2-23, 0-5 SWAC) Monday night at 7 pm. Admission is free to all volleyball matches.

The Lady Hornets, winners of 26 consecutive conference matches dating back to last season, have won seven consecutive matches this season. Not only that, they have won 10 of their last 11 matches dating back to September 9.

Alabama State enters the weekend after winning all five of their conference matches at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup in Houston last weekend, going five sets just one time over the three-day period. The Lady Hornets were one of two teams to finish the weekend undefeated, as fellow east division foe Alabama A&M (5-13, 5-0 SWAC) also won their five matches.

Sophomore
Bayle' Bennett was named the SWAC Offensive Player of the Week after her six-match performance last week that included 80 kills in 23 sets. The award was the ninth such award for the Lady Hornets this season, the most of any team in the conference. Over that same stretch of six matches, the Lady Hornets recorded eight double-doubles, which included three from Bennett.

Ni'yesha Brown continues to pace Alabama State and the conference in kills, landing at 51st in the country with 220 kills. The senior has climbed to 19th all-time at the school with 494 total kills in just over a year of action for the Lady Hornets. Fellow senior,
Briana Dorsey continues to climb the charts in kills and blocks as she now has 699 career kills and 311 blocks in three-plus years. She is also 17th in the country in total blocks, while
Payten Clark sits 34th overall in the same category.

Junior
Kori Kutsch, a three-time SWAC Setter of the Week, is currently fifth all-time in assists with 1,610 for her career; while senior
Justus Tuiolosega is sitting 11th at the school with 854 total assists. Sophomore
Asha Daniels leads the team in digs with 236.
