MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Fresh off a five-overtime conference victory, Alabama State hits the road in the final non-conference game of the season when they face South Alabama Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (2-3), who will be playing their fifth road game of the season, and South Alabama (1-5) will kick off at 4 pm on ESPN3 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The meeting will be the first meeting between the two schools, and will the second contest this fall that the Hornets have faced an FBS-member school.

The Hornets will face their seventh FBS-member school in school history and their third in-state FBS school in the last two seasons, having played Troy last season and Auburn this season. Alabama State has also faced UAB, Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan and Kentucky. Meanwhile, the game will be the third for South Alabama against a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) member school and the Jaguars are 2-0 with wins over Mississippi Valley State and Alabama A&M.

The Hornets enter the weekend off the five-overtime game against Alcorn State, the third longest game in FCS history, and enter the contest third in the nation in fumbles recovered (nine) and passing yards allowed (139.4). They are also 12th in the nation in turnovers gained (13), while also appearing in the top 20 in two other categories – punt returns (11th) and red zone defense (18th).

Offensively,
Ezra Gray leads the Hornets rushing attack with 290 yards on 65 carries, including a 130-yard game against Grambling State earlier this season. Talesin Farmer has added 90 yards on 25 carries, while 21 different players have caught a pass this season.
Wallace Corker leads the way with 12 receptions for 87 yards, while
Marquez Spencer leads a trio of receivers with seven receptions each.

KHA'Darris Davis started for the first time in his collegiate career last weekend against Alcorn State and responded with a pair of touchdown passes, including one in the third overtime to tie the game for the Hornets

Defensively, Alabama State has record 30 tackles for loss and has intercepted four passes, including a pair last week against Alcorn State.
Kurron Ramsey leads the Hornets with 38, while
Darron Johnson has added 37 – including 14 against Alcorn State to earn SWAC Defensive Player of the Week honors – and
Joshua Hill 36 through five games.
The game will be carried on the Hornet Sports Network beginning with pregame at 3:30 pm.
