MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's soccer team returns home for two matches this weekend and will face Arkansas Pine-Bluff (Friday) and Grambling State (Sunday) at the ASU Soccer Complex.
The Lady Hornets (4-9, 4-3 SWAC) will face UAPB (3-2-2 SWAC) on Friday, with the match scheduled to kick at 7 pm. The meeting will be the first between the two schools since last season's 1-0 victory by Alabama State. Alabama State leads the all-time series over UAPB 6-5.
The Lady Hornets will then celebrate Senior Day with a match against Grambling State (6-1 SWAC) Sunday afternoon at 1 pm. Prior to the contest the Lady Hornets will honor seniors
Gianna Guyot,
Mooregan Elder,
Shyann Cordova and
Kile Powell. The Tigers defeated the Lady Hornets 2-0 a season ago in Grambling, La. Alabama State leads the all-time series with Grambling, 6-3.
Birgit Rijnders continues to lead the Lady Hornets with seven goals and 15 points, while
Teaggan Ilela has added three goals and three assists, totaling nine points.
Gianna Guyot has played every minute in goal for the Lady Hornets in conference action, and has a 2.64 goals against average in those contests.
