TROY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's basketball team will return to action for the first time in 10 days with a game against in-state foe Troy University on Thursday night.
Alabama State (0-4) enters the game after an 68-42 loss against North Alabama on Nov. 19.
Jayla Crawford reached double figures for the second time this season, as the freshman scored 17 points and recorded three steals.
Ayana Emmanuel chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds, while
Kaeani Berry added seven rebounds.
Emmanuel leads the Lady Hornets in scoring this season with 12.3 points and five rebounds per game, while Crawford is averaging 8.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
Troy (5-1), who was predicted to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference, is coming off a 75-54 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday. The Trojans had four players score in double figures. Japonica James led the way with 17 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Amber Rivers (15), Shaterrika O'Neal (10) and Sky'Lynn Holmes (10) all scored in double figures for the Trojans. Troy forced 25 MVSU turnovers.
The game tips off at 5 pm inside of Trojan Arena and can be heard on the Hornets Sports Network.
