LEXINGTON, KY. | The Alabama State University women's basketball opens the 2018-19 season on the road against the University of Kentucky on Wednesday, November 7
th.
The Lady Hornets are coming off an 81-56 exhibition victory over West Georgia last Friday.
Ayana Emmanuel led all scorers with 26 points.
Jayla Crawford joined her in double figures with 21 points and
Taylor Aikerson chipped in with 18 off the bench. Defensively, Alabama State was led by
Aliyah Nelson (seven rebounds) while Emmanuel collected four steals.
The game marks the first of two this week for the Lady Hornets, who will host South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
Kentucky, a member of the Southeastern Athletic Conference, enters the game after a 101-64 victory over Lincoln Memorial. In that contest, true freshman Blair Green led the Wildcats with 17 points, while fellow freshman Rhyne Howard added 15 points, five assists, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
