ATLANTA, Ga. | Alabama State hits the road for the first time this month, traveling to face Georgia Tech in non-conference action Wednesday night at GSU Sports Arena. Tip is set for 7 pm.
Alabama State (1-5) enters the game after a 69-63 victory over Mobile last Saturday in which four players scored in double figures.
Jayla Crawford led the Lady Hornets with a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds, while
Ayana Emmanuel (17),
Taylor Aikerson (11) and
Shmya Ward (10) each contributed as well.
Emmanuel leads the Lady Hornets in scoring through the first six games of the season, averaging 12.8 points per game. Ward leads Alabama State in rebounding averaging 4.8 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Georgia Tech (6-2) enters Wednesday night after defeating Georgia State 78-71 on Sunday. In the win, three Yellow Jackets scored in double figures led by Francesca Pan with 22 points, D'Asia Gregg (15) and Chanin Scott (14).
Georgia Tech is led by Pan at 16.4 points per game, while Elizabeth Bologun is averaging 11.1 points and Kierra Fletcher 10.4 points through the team's first eight games. Pan and Lorela Cubaj also lead in the rebounding category, both averaging 5.6 per game.
The meeting will be the seventh all-time between Georgia Tech and Alabama State, with the Yellow Jackets leading the series 6-0. The last time the two teams met was on Nov. 13, 2016 when Georgia Tech defeated the Lady Hornets 70-48.
