MOBILE, Ala. | Alabama State will continue its non-conference road swing with a trip to Mobile (Ala.) to face South Alabama on Sunday.
Tip is set for 3 pm, the second of four in-state foes Alabama State will face this month.
Alabama State (1-6) enters the game after dropping a 69-42 decision at Georgia Tech on Wednesday. In that contest,
Shmya Ward recorded a career-high 15 rebounds in addition to 10 points and five blocks.
Ayana Emmanuel chipped in seven points.
Emmanuel leads the Lady Hornets in scoring (12.0 ppg) and is second in rebounds (4.1 rpg) through the first seven games of the season. Ward leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 per game.
Meanwhile, South Alabama (7-0) enters Sunday's game after defeating Alabama 72-67 on Wednesday. Damaya Telemaque scored 19 points, Shaforia Kines had 17 and Antoinette Lewis was just shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Jags are led by Kines at 15.7 points per game, while Ellis is averaging 14.8 and Lewis 13.4. Lewis also leads in rebounds, averaging 8.7 per game.
The meeting will be the 28th all-time between South Alabama and Alabama State, with South Alabama winning the last meeting 59-47 last season at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
