CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. | Alabama State softball lost a pair of games on day two of the Frost Classic, falling 3-0 to Western Illinois and 6-0 to Western Michigan.
In game one, Alabama State (3-8) and Western Illinois (3-9) were scoreless through four innings. Western Illinois was able to get a run in each the fifth, sixth and seventh innings for the margin of victory. Western Illinois held Alabama State to a pair of hits in the Lady Hornets' loss as
Hatty Shope picked up a single in the sixth and
Charlene Castro a double in the seventh.
Justine Jean was saddled with the loss, working three innings and allowing three runs off of five hits; while
Vanessa Bradford finished with four innings of scoreless relief.
In game two, Western Michigan scored three runs in the third, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Hailey Walker picked up the Lady Hornets first hit of the game for Alabama State, who was held to three hits on the night. Meanwhile,
Casey Durham finished with a pair of hits in the loss.
Bradford was hit with the loss, working six innings and allowing five runs off of seven hits, with four strikeouts.
Skyler Sullivan worked one inning and allowed one run off of two hits.
The Lady Hornets conclude the tournament Sunday morning against Eastern Illinois at 9 am.
