Box Score 2 BATON ROUGE, La. | Alabama State tennis picked up two conference wins today with decisive 4-2 victories over Southern and Prairie View A&M in the SWAC Roundup at the SU Courts Saturday morning.
The Lady Hornets (4-4) started the day against Southern University, a match that started but was postponed due to weather. Because of the delay, the day continued with only singles' play in which
Reka Szentes opened play with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Stephanie Mbaya. At number four,
Mirna Curcic defeated D'Jeri Raymond 6-3, 7-5 and
Lea Krajcovicova won at number five with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nicki Neal.
Marija Blazevic clinched the win for the Lady Hornets with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mia Kent at number six.
In their second match against Prairie View A&M,
Gabriela Lackova opened singles' play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over J. Duran-Castellano. At number five, Krajcovicova picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Shaddae Finley, while Szentes collected a 7-6, 6-1 win over top seed Stacy Lakcey.
Chloe Kabamba clinched the Lady Hornet victory with a 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 win over Neharika Rama.
Alabama State will return home to host Nicholls State on Sunday, March 4 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. The match tips at 11 am and admission is free to all home matches.
