MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State picked up their third consecutive win against Arkansas Pine-Bluff in the second match of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup today, with the women winning 5-0, and the men 4-0.
The Lady Hornets (7-5) started the day against Arkansas Pine-Bluff with a 2-0 advantage after the Lions forfeited at five and six singles. Chloe Kambaba opened play with a 6-1, 6-50 win over Taylor Shaw. At number three,
Gabriela Lackova swept Amirah Ali 6-0, 6-0 and Mirna Curic clinched the win at number four with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amira Taylor.
On the men's side, Alabama State (7-8) opened singles play at number three, where
Tomas Fernandez picked up a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win over Aravino Vangala. At number four,
Alexis Collard earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jualon Greig, while number five player
Chris Andre defeated Khusto Ledwaba, 6-1, 6-1.
Alejo Calvis secured the match for the Hornets with a 7-6, 6-0 victory over Le'Darrien Ledbetter at number six, leaving
Ion Efrim and Carl Louis Luckmann's matches unfinished.
Alabama State continues play in the SWAC Roundup tomorrow, with the men hosting Jackson State at 9 am and the women facing Grambling State at 2 pm. Admission is free inside of Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
