Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State wrapped up play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup with a pair of wins over Jackson State, as the women won 4-1 and the men finished 5-0.
The Alabama State (9-5, 7-0 SWAC) women jumped ahead in the match after dropping the first two doubles matches, losing at number one and three for the point to trail 1-0. The team of
Lea Krajcovicova and
Gabriela Lackova picked up a 6-3 win at number two.
In singles play, Krajcovicova picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number four. Mirna Curci gave Alabama State a 3-1 lead with a 6-0, 6-3 victory, while
Marija Blazevic won 6-0, 6-3 at number six. The match was clinched when Lackova earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number three.
On the men's side, it was one-sided as Alabama State (9-7, 5-0 SWAC) swept the Tigers 5-0. The Hornets were able to pick up the doubles point after the team of
Ion Efrim and
Alexis Collard won 6-3, while
Tomas Fernandez and
Carl-Louis Luckmann won 6-1 at number two.
In singles play, Luckmann and Fernandez won at number two and three with a 6-2, 6-2 victory, while Collard defeated Stylianos Gkontsaris 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at number four. The match was clinched when Efrim won 6-3, 6-4 at number one.
Alabama State and Alabama A&M were in the midst of the final match of the Roundup when rain it, however Alabama State won the doubles point on both sides and the match will resume on Friday – time to be announced.
