MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State picked up another win against Alcorn State in the second day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup, with the women winning 4-2, and the men 4-0.
At number one singles,
Reka Szentes, was able to defeat Biana Birkenstock 6-3, 6-1 to give the Lady Hornets (6-5, 4-0 SWAC) the advantage. Alcorn State was able to win at number two and four singles, but the
Lea Krajcovicova (6-0, 6-1) and
Marija Blazevic (6-0, 6-0) were able to hold off their opponents at number five and six singles to secure the win.
On the men's side, it was one-sided as Alabama State (7-7, 3-0 SWAC) swept the Braves 4-0. At number three singles,
Tomas Fernandez defeated John Paret, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6, while
Alexis Collard won 6-3, 6-4 at number four.
Chris Andre and
Alejo Calvis secured wins at five and six, causing Ion Efirm and Carl Louis-Luckmann's matches to end unfinished.
Alabama State continues the SWAC Roundup this afternoon, with both teams facing Arkansas Pine-Bluff at 2 pm. Admission is free inside of Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center.
