MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State finished off the conference regular season undefeated, defeating Alabama A&M 4-0 in a match that was shortened by rain over the weekend at the SWAC Roundup.
Alabama State (10-7, 6-0 SWAC) made quick work of Alabama A&M, having already clinched the doubles point before the day started. The Hornets swept through doubles play with the number two team of
Carl-Louis Luckmann and Tomas Fernandaz claiming the biggest victory of the day, 6-2 over Alabama A&M's Masteo Monroy and Carlos Salas.
In singles play, Alabama State clinched early with a win by
Ion Efrim at number one singles over Nishangan Nadaraja of Alabama A&M 6-0, 6-3 for the overall victory.
Alejo Calvis was the first off the court when he defeated Joshua Wilson 6-1, 6-1 at number six; followed by
Tomas Fernandez at number three.
Alabama State will hit the road this weekend to face Auburn Sunday afternoon with the match slated for a 4:30 pm start time.
