MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State finished off Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play undefeated with a 4-0 victory over Alabama A&M at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Friday afternoon, a match that was rain-shortened during the SWAC Roundup last weekend.
Alabama State (10-5, 8-0 SWAC) won the doubles point easily as their number two and three teams took care of Alabama A&M by identical 6-1 scores to take a 1-0 overall lead.
The Lady Hornets put the match away in singles play as
Lea Krajcovicova won at number four singles over Nthabiseng Mashego of Alabama A&M 6-0, 6-0; followed by a 6-1, 6-1 victory by
Marija Blazevic at number five singles. The Lady Hornets clinched the match when
Gabriela Lackova claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number three singles over Ayana Kawai Rengiil.
The two teams played the match completely out after that, with Alabama State winning all three singles matches remaining on the court.
The Lady Hornets host Chattanooga Sunday morning at 11 am at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. Admission is free to all home matches.
