MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Chattanooga used the doubles point and three singles victories to defeat Alabama State 4-2 at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Alabama State (10-6, 8-0 SWAC) had their seven match winning streak ended after falling behind following the doubles in which Chattanooga was able to win at number two and three doubles to take an early 1-0 lead, before the Mocs were able to pick up three singles victories for the win.
The Lady Hornets were able to pick up a pair of victories in singles play, which were at number two and six singles.
Reka Szentes moved to number two singles for the match and claimed a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Chattanooga's Delaney Edwards, before
Marija Blazevic picked up a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Chattanooga's Annie Tarwater.
Mirna Curcic was tied with Bogdana Zaporozhets were tied at one-set each (1-6, 7-6) and headed to the third when the overall match was decided.
Alabama Stat returns to action April 3 at Troy, in one of two regular season non-conference matches remaining on the schedule prior to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championships.
