MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. | Vanessa Bradford and
Hatty Shope each had multiple RBI's as Alabama State defeated LaSalle 6-2 on the final day of the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational Sunday morning.
The Lady Hornets scored three runs in the first inning, starting with a leadoff single from
Kaylee Davis before loading the bases with nobody out.
Vanessa Bradford singled through the left side to drive in Shope and Davis for the early 2-0 lead.
Skyler Sullivan then came up to drive in
Kristin Gunter for a 3-0 lead.
Alabama State added another pair of runs in the second on an RBI single from Shope and double from Bradford. After LaSalle scored in the third, Alabama State answered back in the top of the fourth when Shope recorded another RBI single to push the lead to 5-1.
Bradford finished with three hits, while Shope added a pair of the Hornets 10 hits on the day. Sullivan started the game on the mound, going three innings and allowing a pair of runs on two hits; while
Justine Jean went four innings and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Wednesday, March 7, facing Samford on the road in a doubleheader beginning at 4 pm.
