Lady Hornets fall to Samford in regular season finale

Alabama State returns to action as top seed in SWAC Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a 5-2 decision to Samford on Thursday at the Samford Tennis Courts in the regular season finale.
 
Alabama State (10-8, 8-0 SWAC) was able to jump ahead early in doubles as they took the point from Samford by winning at number two and three doubles. At number two doubles, the team of Lea Krajcovicova and Gabriela Lackova won 6-2, while the team of Marija Blazevic and Mirna Curcic won 6-3 at number three.
 
Reka Szentes picked up the point for Alabama State in singles play at number two in straight sets as she defeated Ellie Gerlach 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 for the win.

Alabama State returns to action next weekend for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament in New Orleans.
