MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Preseason first-team Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) pick
Teaggan Ilela led the Alabama State women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Faulkner in an exhibition match at the ASU Soccer Complex on Saturday night.
"I was really pleased with tonight's performance," Alabama State head coach
Jodie Smith said. "Our fitness was great, everyone got good minutes, we scored quality goals so I think we got what we needed from this game."

The Lady Hornets scored in the 26th minute following a corner kick from the ride side as
Kayla Tillman assisted Ilela for the first goal of the night. The second goal came in the 67th minute of the contest when Ilela was able to capitalize off a miscommunication error from the Lady Eagles and successfully launch a shot from about 20 yards.
Alabama State finished the day with 19 shots, including nine on goal, while Faulkner finished with four and two, respectively. Goalkeepers,
Gianna Guyot and
Lauryn Drake split time in goal, with Guyot collecting a pair of saves on the the only Faulkner shots on goal.
The Lady Hornets open the season on the road Friday against North Alabama. The match is set to kick at 7 pm at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex in Florence (Ala.).
